“The Joy That Grew Up With Me” This artwork celebrates 30 years of McDonald’s in Romania — and a personal story told through colors, memories, and a bit of nostalgia. For me, McDonald’s was always more than a place. It was the taste of childhood — the fries dipped in ice cream I first learned about from an older cousin — and later, the meeting point of my teenage years: “See you at Mec, at Romană.” It became the late-night study rescue, the morning-after comfort, and the backdrop of countless small, joyful moments. This mural is about that shared joy — the one that grew up with us — and the friends and rituals that turned into memories. It’s dedicated to Anita, my friend whose childhood was even more tied to that “forbidden fruit” on the way to kindergarten — the one you dreamed about every morning but couldn’t always stop for.
